‘The Sun and the Moon’ hits highest ratings with grand finale
The Sun and the Moon‘s grand finale left a trail of records in its wake, breaking through its own highest viewership rating records.
According to AGB Nielsen Media Research on March 16, the March 15 broadcast of MBC’s The Sun and the Moon recorded 42.2 percent in viewership ratings, 3.5 percent higher than its previous broadcast.
Yang-myung’s (Jung Il-woo) rebellion was found out to be a plan he put together with Lee Hwon (Kim Soo-hyun) to root out Yoon Dae-hyung (Kim Eung-soo). Yang-myung then chose death for himself saying that Lee Hwon’s throne should never be put under danger again, whereupon Hwon sobbed in sorrow over his brother′s death.
Yeon-woo (Han Ga-in) finally met with her mother (Yang Mi-kyung) and her brother Heo Yeom (Song Jae-hee). Yeon-woo’s mother held her daughter in her arms, crying tears of sorrow in remembrance of the hard times they had gone through.
The final scene involved Yeon-woo and Hwon kissing each other in a happy ending with the music from Hyung-sun’s (Jeong Eun-pyo) gayageum playing in the background.
The special episode of SBS’ History of Salaryman, which aired in the same time slot, recorded 5.3 percent viewership ratings, while Hwapyeong Princess′s Weight Loss gained 3 percent.
